Working with big brands can often seem like having to design with one hand tied behind your back. But in reality, the challenges that it affords, far outweigh any problems.
In every case, a Styleguide has been the most important tool utilised to create compelling and visually commercial designs. And while it would be easy to assume that the guides do all the hard work for you, it’s safe to say that when doing it properly, this certainly isn’t the case.

Styleguides are simply that, a guide. The fun bit is taking the material included as a starting point and creating something fresh and exciting with it. This comes into play even more when creating consecutive books such as Pokemon for example, whose Annuals I’ve designed for four consecutive years.
